Bert is a little under 1 year old and his babies (Ernie, Tellie, Elmo, Grover, and Oscar) are all 6 weeks (DOB approx 2/10/2024). They are all Dumbo rats, meaning their ears are rounder and on the side of their head instead of the top. Bert is a little feisty right now, we suspect it is because he can still smell the girls and keeps trying to escape. He is friendly otherwise though although would be best with older kids or adults. We have not at this point put him with any of the babies, although we have had playtime together and they have done okay so he will probably be okay with another male rat with the right introduction. The babies, while a little skittish still, are very friendly and once they are being held they do very well. Due to their small size they would also do best with older children or with supervision. They are used to cats and dogs as well. Rats are very social and will need to be adopted in a minimum of a pair but trios would be best. They also need a large cage (critter nations are the best as their bars can hold the babies and they can have plenty to climb on and space to move). A single critter nation can hold up to 3 rats, otherwise a double critter nation is needed for more than 3. They are currently learning how to use a litter box and are doing pretty well.
Their adoption fee is $30 for a pair and $10 for each additional.
